August was a month in two halves for Uta. The first two weeks had real volume and a race. Then everything stopped for nine days. The back half of the month was about starting again, carefully, in numbers we can actually see.
Here is what the log says, week by week.
| Distance | 87 km |
|---|---|
| Days run | 19 days |
| Rest days | 12 days |
| Easy : hard | 51 : 49 |
| vs 2026-07 | -36.1 km / -4 days |

What the training looked like: the mix of sessions and how the weeks went
Uta trained 19 days in August and rested 12, for a total of 87km, or 4.6km on an average training day. The month opened fast: 10.9km over just two days to start, then 27.6km across five days in the week of 8/3-8/9, including her longest single session of the month, a 7.5km jog on August 8th. The following week, 8/10-8/16, she ran 22.7km over six days. Across the month she did 14 jog sessions, 5 interval sessions, and 2 races. That jog-heavy mix is the backbone of what the numbers show for August.
The complete-rest period and how she built back up afterwards, in numbers
From August 16th to August 24th, nine days, Uta was on complete rest for a muscle strain. No running at all that week - the log shows 0km and 0 days. Coming back, the week of 8/24-8/30 she ran 21.8km over 5 days, close to the 22.7km she'd managed over 6 days just before the rest period, but now packed into one fewer day. On August 31st she added another 4km in a single session. That is the build-back, in the only numbers we have: a near-matching week, then one more day stacked on top.
Easy vs hard: what the split says about the month
The month split almost evenly: 51% easy running, 49% hard. With 14 jog sessions against 5 interval sessions and 2 races, most of her individual sessions were easy jogs, but the harder sessions clearly carried enough weight to pull the overall split close to 50/50. For a parent watching the log, that's a useful thing to notice: a month can look balanced in percentage terms while still being built mostly from easy days with a smaller number of harder efforts doing a lot of the work.
Races and marks, including any personal bests
Uta raced twice in August, both over 1km. On August 15th, at MDC Kanto, she ran 3:39.01 - this was right before the rest period began. On August 29th, at the Tsuchiura night meet (Tsuchiura Nighter, a local evening track meet in Ibaraki), she ran 4:01.87, her first race back after the nine days off. No personal bests this month. Given the gap between the two races and what sat in between them, that's not a surprising pair of numbers to see side by side.
Looking at next month - only what the numbers support
August totaled 87km over 19 training days, down from July's 123.1km over 23 days - a drop of 36.1km and 4 days, which lines up with the nine days of complete rest in the middle of the month. The last data point we have is August 31st, a 4km day added on top of a 21.8km week. If that pattern holds - a full week back, then a bit more stacked on - the numbers suggest a gradual build rather than a jump. Nothing here tells us more than that.
Nine days of nothing, then a week that nearly matched what came before it, then one more day on top. That's August, in the numbers we kept. We'll see what September's log says.
